Christmas Swap

This year has just been fantastic for me- not only did I discover stamping I also started stamping with a fantastic group of stampers I had participated in a few demonstrator swaps and thought that a lot of my customers might be interested as well. I organized a swap amongst my stampers this Christmas and the results were amazing. I wasn't sure if anyone would participate but people did! Yay! I am absolutely thrilled with the results and the feedback has been really positive. This is definitely the first of many swaps to come!

From top to bottom: Katrina MacAlpine, Tali Douglas, Tamara Snell, Marni Shelson, Rebecca Snell

Christmas Swaps 2

These were made by two super talented Kirkland Lake Stampers- Julie Weisflock and Jenn. They sent them down here so they could participate and I'm really grateful. Julie and I made a shaker at Thanksgiving and I think I created a monster!

My Cards for the Swap

These are the cards that I made for the swap. The first is one that I made for the Megameeting and I knew I wanted to share it with everyone since we all love Deer Friends!!

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Deer Friends, Warm Words

Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red

Paper: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss

Accessories: 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, scallop edge punch, circle punches

The next card is a complete case. As soon as I saw it I knew that I had to buy it. I absolutely adore the ribbon- it is double sided and so satiny!

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Snow Swirled, Many Merry Messages

Ink: Kiwi Kiss

Paper: Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss

Accessories: Ticket corner punch, Kiwi kiss/very vanilla ribbon, filigree brads

And finally I wanted to make a shaker for the swap. My swappers were lucky enough to get 2 shakers thanks to Julie's! I also wanted to use beads for the first time- I have been intrigued for a little while. I am super happy with the finished product- I really like how it turned out.

Ink: Perfect Plum

Paper: Perfect Plum, Whisper White

Hot Chocolate and Gift Card Holder

I am definitely a blog hopper and most definitely a caser when I see something great. There is a demo here in Ontario named Andrea Walford who just creates brilliant projects. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to case it as it is just brilliant for Christmas gifts. I love to give gift cards- I mean it's the gift of shopping! Adding a packet of Hot Chocolate is just such a nice touch. This was actually super easy to make too- really all you need is some sticky strip and anyone can make this.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Snow Swirled

Paper: Baha Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Ski Slope DSP

Accessories: 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip, versamark, scalloped edge punch, bone folder

168- Top Notz Tuxedo Card

This is another tuxedo card for my card set. I did get the idea for the card and the small flower from Baroque Motifs around the edge from the source card but I switched it around a bit so I could use my new punch and stamp from the curly label bundle. I really like how it turned out- I am enjoying making just black and white cards.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Baroque Motifs, Cute and Curly

Ink: Basic Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: White embossing, Curly Label Punch, Top Notz die

167- Purple Cherish Card

This is another straight case for a Christmas card kit. I pretty much love any excuse to use Baroque motifs and love the simplicity- I just wish I had the pretties kit because I would have added a few embellishments.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Baroque Motifs

Ink: Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant

Paper: Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White

Accessories: elegant eggplant ribbon

Sincere Salutations Card Kit

I recently purchased the Sincere Salutations stamp set and realized just how useful it is since it contains a sentiment for every occasion.

I have created this card kit using every colour of 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and the 8 stamps in the Sincere Salutations card set. This kit will include instructions on how to do the ribbon weaving and create the cards. It will also include all of the precut pieces and enough ribbon to make each card. The only thing you will require is ink and adhesive. The cost of the kit will be $35- please email me if you are interested.

166- Pocket Silhouettes Card

I cased this card for a splitcoast colour challenge. I wanted to use my new pocket silhouettes and some designer paper.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Pocket Silhouettes

Ink: Kiwi Kiss

Paper: Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Pixie Pink, Tangerine Tango, Bella Rose DSP

Accessories: circle punch, scallop circle punch, whisper white ribbon

165- Jolliest Time Free Standing Pop Up Card

This is a card that I made for my last stamp club that involved the chalkboard technique. I actually used three different methods of applying chalk on the card. I used versamark followed by chalk with the daubers for the snowflakes on the base. Then I used whisper white craft ink on the black and daubed chalk on the images- I immediately wiped off the excess. I then used a blender pen to colour in the ornaments on the tree. The more I use them the more I love my chalks.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Jolliest Time of the Year, Snow Swirled, All Holidays

Ink: Whisper White Craft Ink

Paper: Garden Green, Ruby Red, Basic Black

Accessories: Pewter eyelet, basic black ribbon, Stampin Up pastels, corner rounder, sticky strip, Little felt fluries, pewter brads, rhinestone brad

164- Grand Soiree Tuxedo Card

I am so happy that I bought this set- it just makes what I consider to be very elegant cards. For my one aunt I am making all black and white cards with grey accents so this is for her- I'm really happy with it.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Grand Soiree, So Swirly Wheel

Ink: Basic Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: Basic Grey taffeta ribbon, white embossing

163- Big B Birthday

This card is pretty much a complete case and I love it. For Christmas I wanted to make up card boxes for people but am severely behind- damn you shingles. So I am casing nice simple cards for my presents because I am stamping at an incredibly slow rate as I build up my strength. I also think this is a great card to demonstrate.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Party Hearty

Ink: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss

Paper: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White

Accessories: 5/8" striped grosgrain in Riding Hood Red, scalloped edge punch

Stampin Up Regional Conference!

It was just announced that there will be a full-day Stampin Up Regional Conference on March 14th at the London Conference Centre in London, Ontario. How exciting is that?!?!?! There will be 6 Stampin Up projects, make and takes, talks, swaps- it will be amazing! I always learn SOOO much when I go to these events.

This event is open first to demonstrators and then to guests if there is room. I'm telling you though- there are a TON of demos in London- it's a huge stamping area. If you want to guarantee yourself a spot you should sign up to become a demonstrator so that you don't miss out on this. So in addition to the amazing starter kit (found on the last page of the Fall and Winter Catalogue 2008) where you get almost $500 in product for only $260 you get to come to some fabulous events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has been thinking of joining. For more information please email or call me. Card Box

I taught a class a few weeks ago on card boxes and this is one of the ones we did. It can hold up to 15 cards plus envelopes and is an amazing Christmas gift this year- quite a few of my family members will be receiving these this year! I learned how to make the box at the last megameeting and the dimensions are found here:

http://stampwithjenn.typepad.com/stamp_with_jenn_blog/2008/10/gotta-make-boxes-and-purses.html

The number one rule that I have found with boxes- always use sticky strip when making boxes- normal adhesive won't hold it

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Snow Swirled

Ink: Old Olive

Paper: Ski slope DSP, Whisper White, Old Olive

Accessories: Filigree brads, ticket corner punch, sticky strip

162- Wedding Invitation

I joined a wedding invitation swap and this is what I came up with. I wanted a simple color scheme- something nice and classic. I also wanted to use my new Grand Soiree set and also my Basic Grey Taffeta ribbon. I'm so happy with the ribbon- it's not as dark as the paper and has a faint silver sheen. When I was designing the layout for this card I knew I wanted it to be tied with a ribbon at the front and for there to be pockets inside for the different information you need to include. What I did was take a sheet of Whisper white and score it at 5" for the width and 3" for each side on the long side. I then cut out the bottom middle section so I would have to pieces at each side that I could fold up and secure with brads. This allowed two pockets on either side for inserts. I used the ribbon on the outside to cover the back of the brads

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Grand Soiree, Baroque wheel

Ink: Silver

Paper: Whisper White, Silver

Accessories: corner rounder, slot punch, Big Shot dies for the flowers, Basic Grey taffeta ribbon, silver brads, brad punch
