The New In Colours!!

Here they are- the new in colours! How fun are they! This year they are definitely similar to the Bold Brights- they are just so fun and happy. I see a lot of Melon Mambo in my future!

If you would like to see these in person I am having an Open House/ Catalogue Release party this Sunday, July 5th at 1pm at my condo in Mississauga. I am sure that you will just love them! Plus I am going to have a few projects set up for you to do- I hope to see you there! For more information please see my events calendar

263- Star Fan Belt Card

This technique was reated and demonstrated by Ally Fereday at the Regionals in London back in March. As soon as I saw her card I knew I would have to try it one day

To do this I scored a bunch of folds in the middle of the card that were 1/2" thick. I then used sticky strip to attach the acetate pieces and seal the "fan belt". I used a 12x12 pieces of cardstock to make sure I had an average size card in the end.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pun fun, classic stars wheel

Paper: Brilliant blue, Summer Sun, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White

Ink: Brilliant blue, Summer Sun, Tangerine Tango

Accessories: Large star punch, star punch, acetate, markers, blender pen, sticky strip

262- Baroque Motifs Never Ending Card

I just can't stop making these- I love them! This is for a student that I have been working with who just loves this style of card- she is my biggest supporter when it comes to Never Ending cards! She is off to France for a course and this is what I made for her to wish her well. This may not make sense but I have always considered this colour combination to be very Parisian so I thought it was appropriate.

Recipe:

Stamps: Baroque motifs, polka dot background, sincere salutations

Paper: Pink pirouette, basic black

Ink: Basic black

Accessories: Black embossing, sticky strip

261- Asian Embrace Life Card

Once again I am practicing my sponging skills and following a Michelle Zindorf tutorial to inspire me:

http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststamp...-tutorial-222/

I have never used this colour combo and just love it- I love Asian inspired looks. I was just over at Chantale's house and this card actually looks really similar to the furniture they have from Asia

Recipe:

Stamps: Embrace Life

Paper: Real red, basic black, gold

Ink: Basic black, close to cocoa, old olive

Accessories: White gel pen, versamark, ticket corner punch

260- Baby Tri shutter Card

I wanted to make a baby card for a friend and it was a perfect excuse to make another tri shutter card. Plus I got to use the duckie wheel- I love love the duckie wheel! These cards are just too much fun and are such high impact. The colours from the delicate dots DSP was perfect for this since they are nice pastels for a baby card.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pun fun, warm words, schoolbook serif letters, duckie wheel

Paper: Whisper white, delicate dots DSP

Ink: Bashful blue, pretty in pink, yoyo yellow, pumpkin pie

Accessories: 5/8" so saffron grosgrain ribbon, small and large oval punches, white embossing, 1/2" 1" 1 1/4" circle punches, build a brad

Eastern Blooms Class Planner

Here is my new class planner using the Eastern Blooms stamp set and Bold Brights paper to make 4 great Thank You cards. You will get all of the instructions and designs necessary to complete and demonstrate these fantastic projects. This is one of the sets that many demonstrators receive with their demonstrator starter kit so it's a great class to get started with.

This planner will give you step by step instructions to make these cards including over 40 colour photos. It also outlines all of the products that you will need to make the projects and suggested class prices. I also give lots of tips and upselling ideas as well as alternate materials that you could use instead of those featured here.

The cost of this class planner is $15 Canadian and it can be sold internationally. Once I receive the payment I will email you the PDF of the planner.

For my Canadian customers I am also selling this as a card kit. You will receive the Eastern Blooms stamp set, instructions, and all of the materials required to make 1 of each of the 4 cards (excluding the sentiment stamp). The cost of this kit will be $36 and this includes tax and shipping.

259- Spot Thank You

This is one of the cards that we will be making in my Seeing Spots class next Sunday, June 28th. We will also be making two other projects with this retiring set. The class will be at 1pm at my condo in Mississauga and will cost $22. You will leave with the 3 cards and the Seeing Spots set which is fantastic for making backgrounds and great to use with your circle punches. Since the set is retiring the 20% off that I'm offering on all retiring sets is included in the class fee. If you are unable to attend this class it will be available as a class kit and you will receive all of the materials and instructions to make the projects at home. If you are out of town please add $5 for shipping. Please email me at mcgill15@hotmail.com

This card used two of the retiring in colours- tangerine tango and baha breeze. I am really happy with the finished card and can't wait to do it next weekend at my class.

Paper: Whisper white, baha breeze, tangerine tango

258- Cupcake Tri Shutter Card

The tri shutter card was demonstrated by Mary Jo at last weeks megameeting. It was also a technique challenge (TLC 221) on Splitcoast a few weeks ago. Until I saw the demonstration I was a bit overwhelmed but trust me this was easy. And such a fantastic card- who wouldn't be impressed receiving a card and opening it up and seeing this!

You need to use 12"x12" paper for this project. You cut the paper to 5"x12". You then score it at 2", 4", 8" and 10". You put the paper lengthwise in your paper cutter and cut between the two outer score lines at 1.5" from the top and bottom. You fold the top and bottom pieces in the same direction going first back, the forward, then back. Do the reverse with the middle piece. Then decorate all the different sections- so much fun!

Recipe:

Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes, Cupcake Wheel, Party Hearty

Paper: Whisper white, Sweet Always DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip

Ink: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red

Accessories: 5 petal punch, white embossing, circle fire rhinestone brads, build a brad, chocolate chip ribbon, chunky essentials glitter, 1/2" 3/4" 1" circle punches, brad punch

Stampin' Up! On YouTube

Stampin' Up! now has their own page on You Tube. You can go and see videos featuring really great techniques and products that were previously only available to demonstrators. I find these videos to be so incredibly handy- they are nice and short and contain all the tricks and tips that you need to make the most of your products. These videos sold me on the pop up dies for my big shot and on the circle scissors plus. Stampin' Up! will keep adding videos to the this page so definitely make sure to keep checking it.

There is no cost for subscribing and it's very easy to do. Just click on the large yellow "Subscribe" button located on the Stampin' Up! channel near the top of the page. You'll then be prompted to sign in if you have an existing YouTube account, or sign up for a free account if you're a new user. Enjoy!

257- Baroque Magic Card

My final sample of a magic card from megameeting was this one- I always like to use Baroque Motifs if I can! I liked using DSP for the inserts because you get to see the different patterns on each side.

Recipe:

Stamps: Baroque Motifs

Paper: Chocolate chip, pretty in pink, pretty in pink DSP

Ink: Chocolate Chip, pretty in pink

256- Never Ending Wedding Card

I wanted to make a wedding card using the Never Ending Card Fold. I love the finished product- I will really really miss these in colours! These colours have been used on many cards that I've seen with the Fifth Avenue Floral set and I just love the look.

It was also a great excuse to use some of my buttons. I'm not a big sewer so I used crystal effects to adhere them to the card.

This is the video that I watched to learn how to make the card:

http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com/dawns_stamping_thoughts/2008/02/never-ending-ca.html

One helpful hint- make sure that anything you adhere to the card does not go over any of the scored lines because you won't be able to fold the card into the 4 positions

Recipe:

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, For the Bride

Paper: Whisper white, baha breeze, kiwi kiss

Ink: Pacific point, baha breeze, kiwi kiss

Accessories: Button bouquet, crystal effects, silver embossing, 1/4" kiwi kiss/ very vanilla satin ribbon, corner rounder

Last Chance List Reminder

Just a reminder that you only have 2 weeks left to get the items on the last chance list- they will all be gone after June 30th. Stampin' Up! is offering 25% and 50% off certain items and I am offering 20% off all other items on the list. Call me soon to place your order because they are going fast.

http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/CategoryPage.aspx?categoryID=311

I was at a stamping event yesterday and saw the new catalogue. It is going to be great- there is some really amazing stuff in there. But I just wanted to let you all know about the prices in the new catalogue. All items in the new catalogue will be at least 10% more expensive then they are currently. Stampin' Up! had to raise the prices to take into account the Canadian dollar at the time of printing. They had lowered the prices for 4 straight years but unfortunately due to the economy they had to raise them. So if there are items that you have been meaning to buy I would do it before the end of the month.

That's it for now- Happy Stamping!

255- Wedding Cake Magic Card

I love making magic cards and got to demonstrate them for my upline Laura's megameeting. I made this one as an example of a wedding card...and of course it was a great way to use up my retiring in colour paper.

To make this card cut your paper to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score the paper at 2 1/8", 4 1/4" and 6 3/8". Take your paper cutter and cut in between the two outer score lines at 1 3/4" from the top and the bottom. This gives you slits on the inside. You can then weave two pieces of cardstock that are cut to 2" x 5 1/2". You are left with a gate fold card that when you first open you have one view. You then fold up the card accordion style and open it up again in between the two pieces of cardstock that you wove- this will give you another view.

So much fun!

Recipe:

Stamps: Sincere salutations, so swirly

Paper: Pacific point, kiwi kiss, whisper white, ski slope DSP

Ink: Pacific Point

Accessories: Corner rounder, 1/4" kiwi kiss/ very vanilla satin ribbon, clear rhinestone brads, versamark

254- Stitched Exotics Celebrate Card

This is a twist on a previous card that I've done. I love the look of the vellum over the images- it really softens it even though you can still tell that the colours underneath are bright and vibrant. I can't believe how long it has taken me to discover Summer Sun- love it!

I am really going to miss this stamp set- it is so great to make backgrounds with. Make sure to get yours before it retires at the end of the month- just click here to go to online ordering.

Recipe:

Stamps: Stitched exotics, wonderful words

Paper: Perfect plum, whisper white, vellum

Ink: Regal rose, tempting turquoise, summer sun, certainly celery

Accessories: Eyelet border punch, vintage brads, brad punch, silver embossing

Megameeting!!

I just got back from my upline Laura Robinson's Megameeting and let me tell you I was inspired! It is so great getting together with a group of amazing stampers and stamp the day away. I also got to attend with three members of my downline- Katrina, Tali and Fiona- and that made it super fun. I learned some amazing new techniques that I will definitely be using in my upcoming classes- keep an eye on my calendar in the next few months because there will be some really fun classes coming up. I can't stop thinking about everything I learned today- it's so overwhelming! Let me tell you for the past few hours all I've been thinking about the tri-shutter card that I will make tomorrow- stay tuned...

I want to thank all of the ladies for my great swaps- I kid you not these are some of the best swaps I have ever gotten. I will have them all out on display at my open house on July 5th- make sure to come by and see them!

Here is one of the great cards that we made- I will keep posting these over the next few weeks. I'm pretty sure all of the cards were designed by either Laura Robinson or Ally Fereday- all of the credit goes to them.

I really like this card- any excuse to use Fifth Avenue Floral makes me happy. This is also a colour combination that I have never used and I enjoy- must use more Apricot Appeal! I also love what we did with the central flower. It was cut out and we also traced the image with a versamarker to give it a glossy finish.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Fifth Avenue Floral

Paper: Basic Black, Apricot Appeal

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories: 1/4" basic black grosgrain ribbon, versamarker, Big Shot, Stampin' Up Little Leaves die, eyelet border punch

253- Wonderful You Father's Day Card- Retiring Set

This is my first Father's Day card of the year. I am going to miss this stamp set- it is fantastic for two step stamping. And great for guy cards- something we always need. Make sure to order it before it retires at the end of the month! You can click here to order it online.
To adhere the buttons I used crystal effects- you don't need to use a lot and the buttons will stay in place.
When I'm two step stamping I don't always like to line them up perfectly- if you are someone who does then using the stamp-a-ma-jig can definitely help with this.
Recipe:
Stamps: Wonderful you, all holidays

Paper: Kraft, chocolate chip, old olive, very vanilla

Ink: Chocolate chip, old olive

Accessories: Corduroy buttons, crystal effects, photo corners punch

251- Happy Bird Day!

This card is based on one that I made at a meeting at my upline Laura's house. I love the fold and it is just too cute for words. It is simple yet pretty and a different fold which is always important. All you have to do is score the card at 4 1/4" and 2 1/8" and precut all the pieces- it will be a quick card to demo.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pun Fun

Paper: Basic black, whisper white, pretty in pink DSP, regal rose

Ink: Basic black, pretty in pink

Accessories: Ticket corner punch, dazzling diamonds

250- Pacific Upsy Daisy

This is a card that we did at my Birthday Stamp a Stack today. I am going to miss Pacific Point- it is such a beautiful vibrant blue

Recipe:

Stamps: Upsy Daisy

Paper: Pacific Point, Basic Black, Whisper White

Ink: Pacific Point, Basic Black

Accessories: Big shot, texturz plate, 1/4" basic black grosgrain ribbon

249- Scallop Dress Card

As soon as I saw this card I knew it was the perfect technique to do at my big shot class. I also got to use my hodgepodge hardware and make a great dress.

It was a great opportunity to try the Negative Effect with the background. My downline Sheila had tried this before with the same texturz plate and I definitely want to try to do it again. To do this you ink the entire texturz plate with the Pacific Point- make sure the ink is on thick and evenly. Carefully place your white cardstock (spritzed with water for a deeper impression) and put on texturz silicone rubber and texturz impressions pad on top. Make sure that it doesn't shift at all because you don't want to smudge the ink. Run it through your big shot and remove it carefully. I put it aside for a few minutes to make sure it is completely dry. In the end you'll get a background that is both dry embossed and looks like it has been clear embossed. With the damask background it just looks great.

Recipe:

Paper: Whisper white, pacific point DSP

Ink: Pacific point

Accessories: Big shot, scallop circle, silver hodgepodge hardware, 1/4" whisper white grosgrain ribbon, eyelet border punch, textur plate

248- Manhattan Best Wishes

I just got the Manhattan Flower embossing folder and was just itching to use it. I made this card last night at my big shot class because I wanted to show them this fold and let them play with this cool joy fold too. I have already used this layout- it is just so versatile!
Recipe:

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Sincere Salutations

Paper: Baha breeze, pink pirouette, whisper white

Ink: Pink pirouette, pretty in pink, regal rose

Accessories: Manhattan flower die, big shot, vintage brads, brad punch, corner rounder, 1/4" pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, silver embossing
